OUR UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST CONNECTIONS
Boundless Way Zen, while an independent current of Zen Buddhism, is proud of its connections to Unitarian Universalism.
Three of our Boundless Way's four founding teachers have been active Unitarian Universalists. One of these, Blue Cliff's founding teacher Roshi James Ford, is also a Unitarian Universalist minister, serving as a parish minister for twenty-five years.
James is minister emeritus of the First Unitarian Church of Providence, as well as currently serving as a community minister affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Church of Long Beach.
These connections between Boundless Way and Unitarian Universalism have become the subject of various studies. Here is one focusing on Unitarian Universalism and Boundless Way.
Our UU and Zen connections continue with our emerging Blue Cliff sangha.
